Right now FreeBSD is very frustrating, but I am hoping this is one of those cycles that seems to come and go. I recommend just stepping away from it for a few days. And yes, in theory it would have been nice to do the Firefox upgrade in isolation, but without a half-dozen people who want to dedicate all their time to doing the work to branch the ports tree, it would have been completely infeasible.
