Ok this one is an easy one.
It’s been raining like piss almost non-stop for the past few weeks. This is getting really frustrating. I’m trying really hard to find occupations to keep me (mind and body) busy.
I’ve signed up for a gym club (after a long period without doing any intense physical exercise) as I may have already written on this blog. Going there three to four times a week has been a real challenge so far (doing 40 minutes cardio then quite a few resistance exercices everytime) but I’m usually fucked when I come back, so I’ve reduced substancially the time I spend in pubs (which can be considered a good or a bad thing). Today was pretty busy, which means even more gorgeous girls (that helps forgetting about the weather too).
Went to Tesco to buy a bottle of Sauternes to drink with the foie gras I brought back from France last week. Flatmate wasn’t in the mood of eating such food tonight so it’s postponed, but I had a piece nonetheless. I‘ve been thinking about dinner all day, there was no way I’d just forget about it.
That was a really tiring yet really cool weekend. I’m not going to write everything about it cause nobody will read it, but here’s a summary.
Headlines: loads of new mates, first game at croker, met former Miss Ireland Aoife Cogan
Also I had limited physical contact with a czech girl on friday night. This all “stay-away-from-computers-during-the-weekend” technique has proven to be quite effective so far, socially I mean, cause it doesn’t help getting things done in FreeBSD.
I’ve started playing football in Bushy Park with BT again. Weather was lovely (but rain is already back). I don’t think there’s anything better than a hot shower after physical exercise. Actually, sauna or hammam would be better.
When I came to Ireland, I had two ideas in mind: start playing golf and sign up for a fitness club. While I’ve played golf (in pitch and putt) on a regular basis, I still haven’t signed up in a gym club. My flatmate joined Westwood a couple days ago so that gives me a good reason to do the same. The thing is, it’s 70 quid per month. Do the math, it’s around 850 quid a year (and you have to pay an extra 150 quid joining fee). There’s also Total fitness not too far from my place, which is much cheaper (somebody told me it was around 50-75 quid to join, then 55 quid per month). Still have to think about it, guess I could pay both a visit.
Well, weather has been quite good for the past three weeks but it seems a special someone got angry when I left Ireland for France and decided rain should come again. And no, I’m not egocentric.
So James, one of my co-workers told me he was going to Rathmichael (IIRC) to play golf (pitch and putt) with a few friends yesterday afternoon (after work). I have been a couple times to Leopardstown driving range cause it’s as far as five minutes driving from my apartment but I haven’t really played golf in a while, so I figured it could be a good idea to go there and meet new people. We arrived a bit late, around 6:30pm I think while we were supposed to arrive at 6pm. We stopped after nine holes and the result was pretty lame: 17 over par. This is a Par 3 course. Do the math, that means the average is 5. Guess I should play a bit more often, or maybe just stop completely.
Anyway, not sure why I chose this title cause I’m talking about golf really (not about the weather), but it’s been raining during the whole time we were playing. Admittedly, that was a light rain, but still. And there was wind too. I think I got accustomed to rain and wind but I’ve been in Paris for the week-end and it was sunny like hell, with temperature over 25 degrees. In both case I’ve been wet, either because of sweat or rain.
PS: Yeah, ranting again, but I’m french and french people rant. A lot. Get over it.
