My name is Florent Thoumie and I’m 24 at the time of writing updating this page (born on 4th of July 1982).
I have been living near Paris, France in the suburb until February 2006 when I moved to Dublin, Ireland to work for BT Ireland as System Engineer.
I spent 5 years in EPITA studying Computer Science and I graduated in July 2005.
Few months ago, I’ve gained write access to FreeBSD CVS server (ports then src). So most of my free time is dedicated to maintaining my ports (and creating new ones when the need arises) and doing various stuff in src (mainly in rc area at the moment).
Besides computers, I’m a fan of Dune books, old games (Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max : Hit the Road, Dune, Dune II, ...). I bought a Canon EOS-300D camera to learn photography on my last trip to U.S and more recently a Canon 70-200 f/4L lens. I like food, well, good food, and god knows it’s more difficult and more expensive to find good food in Ireland than in France.
I don’t like to talk about myself a lot so what you will read in this blog is mostly technical stuff.

Je m’appelle Florent Thoumie. J’ai 24 ans. Depuis un peu moins d’un an, je vis a Dublin (en Irlande, pas en Allemagne) et je travaille pour BT Ireland en tant qu’ingenieur systeme. Avant de partir, j’habitais chez mes parents, dans une petite ville du Val d’Oise (Saint Prix). J’ai frequente les etablissements scolaires suivant (plus ou moins recemment): College Jules Ferry (Eaubonne), Lycee Van Gogh (Ermont) et EPITA (Kremlin-Bicetre). Je passe une partie (consequente) de mon temps libre a travailler sur un projet opensource appele FreeBSD et comme vous pouvez le voir, je n’ai aucune affinite particuliere avec les accents. Je joue aux jeux videos quand je ne suis pas capable de faire autre chose, et j’aime bien lire de la SF (Dune, H2G2, ...). Depuis que j’habite en Irlande, je passe pas mal de temps dans les pubs (souvent pres de chez moi) a boire quelques pintes avec des amis.
